A Short Bio...

Enjoy the light nights and share in the Cumbrian summer at the charming Punchbowl Inn. Finely positioned in the heart of The Lowther Estate, opposite Askham Hall, the home of the Earl of Lonsdale, our 18th Century Inn offers home from home comfortable accommodation and a warm welcome to our guests.
Dominated by its spacious and traditional bar with open fires and original timber ceiling we offer fresh, local food coupled with a fine selection of real ales, wines and spirits.
On our doorstep are Ullswater, Askham Fell, Helton Fell and Hawes Water - a haven for walkers and those who love to explore the outdoors.
The chocolate box village itself is also popular for fishing and horse riding with an abundance trout on the River Lowther and beautiful woodland bridleways.
Just south of the market town of Penrith, off the M6 Motorway, we are an ideal stop over for those travelling on business, with the perfect tranquil, location removed from the pressures of everyday life.
Whatever your reason for visiting, whether it be for business or leisure our warm hospitality and rural charm will have you returning time and time again. We look forward to welcoming you soon.
