Enjoy the light nights and share in the Cumbrian summer at the charming Punchbowl Inn. Finely positioned in the heart of The Lowther Estate, opposite Askham Hall, the home of the Earl of Lonsdale, our 18th Century Inn offers home from home comfortable accommodation and a warm welcome to our guests.
Dominated by its spacious and traditional bar with open fires and original timber ceiling we offer fresh, local food coupled with a fine selection of real ales, wines and spirits.
On our doorstep are Ullswater, Askham Fell, Helton Fell and Hawes Water - a haven for walkers and those who love to explore the outdoors.
The chocolate box village itself is also popular for fishing and horse riding with an abundance trout on the River Lowther and beautiful woodland bridleways.
Just south of the market town of Penrith, off the M6 Motorway, we are an ideal stop over for those travelling on business, with the perfect tranquil, location removed from the pressures of everyday life.

Introducing The Punchbowl Inn

Enjoy light spring nights at the charming Punchbowl Inn, the most recent property to join the J&G Inns Ltd group. This fantastic 18th Century Inn enjoys a fine position in the heart of The Lowther Estate opposite Askham Hall, the home of the Earl of Lonsdale. We are currently open for drinks whilst our kitchen is refurbished, following which we shall be serving delicious home cooked food all day.
